Newly invited Super Eagles forward, Samuel Chukwueze, has tipped Nigeria to defeat South Africa in Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying fixture at the BFN Stadium in Johannesburg.
The Villarreal star was recently invited to the senior national team of Nigeria for the first time since representing Nigeria at U17 and 20 levels by coach Gernot Rohr.
The 19-year-old said Rohr’s men can get the needed result against the Bafana Bafana in front of their home fans.
“I’m very happy to be called up to represent my country, it’s a very big honour and I thank the coach for believing in me. I feel at home in the team and it’s great to have my friends from the Golden Eaglets Victor (Osimhen) also in the squad,” CSN quoted Chukwueze as saying ahead of South Africa clash.
“I know the match is a very crucial one against a tough side, but we’re also a very strong team so I believe we can get the needed result.
“The most important thing is for the team to win and to make our country proud but if I get the opportunity I’ll do my best just like I’ve been doing at my club to help Nigeria qualify.”
Nigeria head to the game after defeating Libya 3-2 in their last game, while South Africa played a 1-1 draw with Seychelles at home.
Rohr’s side is on top of the group with nine points from four matches, while the Bafana Bafana is in second place with eight points from the same number of games.
The kick-off time for the match is 2pm.
