The Special Anti Robbery Squads (SARS) in Cross River State has rescued a Deaconess in the Voice of God Christian Mission, 3 Howell Street in Calabar, the state capital from kidnapers.
The Deaconess, Happiness Edon was kidnapped by suspected kidnappers in the Church premises but was rescued at Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) pavilion.
Disclosing this to DAILY POST on Thursday, the SARS Commander, Mr. Victor James Usang, said the victim was rescued after being in captivity of the kidnappers for four days at the Pavilion of the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH).
“There was a break through when a woman, Deaconess Happiness Edon, who was kidnapped by suspected kidnappers at the Church premises on No 3 Howel Street (Voice of God Christian Mission); we rescued her at the Cross River University of Technology pavilion four days after,
“The kidnappers succeeded in squeezing out N100, 000 from her, we went after them but they escaped with the money, however, we rescued the victim unhurt on Sunday 21st October being Sunday” he stated.
Similarly, the Commander said, two armed robbers who are in the habit of breaking stores along Goldie Street were arrested; Edem Okon Edet and Christopher Asuquo Willie.
“The complainants who summoned courage to come up and reported the matter are Doris Joseph and Chukwu Emeka.”
He further said, “Some cultists who belong to Axe confraternity who are also armed robbers, Emmanuel Edim Jimmy, Sunday Ebukason and David Ekanem are in SARS custody.
“They robed one Liberty Anda along Mount Zion Road, of his Infinix phone valued at N40, 000 and a physical cash of N26, 000.”
