Three gubernatorial aspirants under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in the ongoing gubernatorial primary election in Oyo state, Engineer Joseph Tegbe, Dr. Olusola Ayandele and Dr. Owolabi Babalola have stepped down, DAILY POST reports.
The gubernatorial primary election is currently taking place at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, the state capital.
It is headed by Mr. Demola Seriki, a chieftain of the party from Lagos state.
The three aspirants among whom were Engineer Joseph Tegbe, Dr. Olusola Ayandele and Dr. Owolabi Babalola announced their withdrawal from the race around 5.10 pm.
DAILY POST recalls that former governor of the state, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala had yesterday announced his withdrawal from the race due to alleged imposition of a certain candidate by the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

But, the trio of Tegbe, Ayandele and Owolabi said that they were stepping down in the interest of the party.
Tegbe while speaking added that he was stepping down in the interest of the party and governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state.
Tegbe said, “I Joseph Tegbe hereby withdraw in the interest of the party. I hereby pledged my full support for the candidate that emerge”.
Olusola while stepping down said, ” I Dr. Olusola Ayandele because of unity, because we want unity and we want our party to progress and because we don’t want division in our party.
“I am announcing that I am stepping down for the candidate of the governor. I am not stepping down alone, I am stepping down for Bayo Adelabu”.
Owolabi in his own remarks said, “I Dr. Owolabi Babalola hereby greet our members and our leaders that I hereby pledged my support for the candidature of Bayo Adelabu”.
The voting which has commenced with accreditation of voters is now between former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Bayo Adelabu and Chief Adeniyi Akintola (SAN).
Akintola said he was not ready to step down for any of the candidates in the election.
