The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to a trending video of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole mistakenly saying the just concluded Osun State governorship election was rigged.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had last Friday declared APC’s candidate, Gboyega Oyetola as winner of the gubernatorial election in Osun State.
The State INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Joseph Adeola Afuwape said Oyetola garnered 255,505 votes to defeat his main rival, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP, who polled 255,023 votes.
Following the conclusion of the election, a video surfaced online of Oshiomhole in a slip talking about a rigged election.
PDP’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, in his reaction, said what Oshiomhole mistakenly said validates the belief that the Osun election was rigged.
In a tweet, Ologbondiyan wrote: “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks…”
In an apparent reference to Oshiomhole, he said, “Your revelation validates the position @OfficialPDPNig that @OfficialAPCNg has adopted rigging as the only means of winning elections.”
