He accused Oshiomhole of acting without consultation with the National Working Committee (NWC), even as he frowned on the cancellation of Enugu State governorship primaries midway into the exercise.
Reacting to the crises that trailed the governorship primaries in some states and the decision to change the mode of the primaries earlier approved for the states, Okechukwu argued that such decision was taken without considering the peculiarities of the affected states.
He cautioned that unless care was taken, the APC was bound to lose the momentum it had gathered in the southeast zone.Speaking with journalists in Enugu, Okechukwu reiterated his position that South East would be a shoreline for President Buhari to cover what may be lost in North Central and South West, especially as the party has not yet known the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Okechukwu, leading aspirant for Enugu West senatorial seat, said the National Chairman was not taking the President into account and acts without due consultation with the NWC.He noted that the NWC published the mode for conducting primaries in various states and approved indirect primaries for Enugu State.
According to him, APC has a constitution and the same congress that produced the party executives in Enugu from the ward and local councils produced Oshiomhole and other national officers of the party.
