Nigerian Breweries Plc. has explained its decision to support the annual Independence Day tournament hosted by the IBB Golf and Country Club, Abuja.
At the competition, known as the Heineken Independence Golf Tournament, Effiong Etifit beat 248 other golfers to emerge the over all winner.
Explaining NB Plc.’s sponsorship of the competition, the company’s Managing Director, Jordi Borrut Bel said it was in line with its commitment to Winning with Nigeria. “Our long partnership with the IBB Golf and Country Club reinforces our readiness to always partner with initiatives that further nation building and economic growth in line with our Winning with Nigeria philosophy,” Borrut Bel said.
Borrut Bel, who was represented at the prize presentation ceremony by Head Government Relations, Nigerian Breweries Plc., Vivian Ikem, thanked the management of the IBB Golf and Country Club for its long partnership with Nigerian Breweries.He also thanked members of the organising committee for their dedication and commitment in organising the annual event.
Also speaking at the occasion, captain of the club, Sunday Ibrahim Ameh thanked the participants for gracing the tournament, noting that the game of golf like Nigeria, is one of resilience, tolerance, perseverance and ultimately, victory.The Heineken Independence Golf Tournament is held annually on October 1 in commemoration of Nigeria’s independence.
